This is the start of something epic.
We are 45 grade eight students in Ottawa, Canada who are trying to make a difference in the world. (Just like Craig Kielburger did when he was 12 years old.)
The Better World Project was created as a way to explore the new 2013 Social Studies (Gr 1-6), Geography and History (Gr 7/8) Ontario.
There’s a lot of great stuff in the new curriculum: social justice, big ideas, and character education. You can read more on our class website.
Although our journey officially started at Longfields Davidson Heights in September 2013 with Mr Fuchigami and his two grade 8 literacy classes, R8B and R8C, we’re trying to create something bigger than us. (Read Mr Fuchigami’s motivation behind this project.)
The adventure continues in September 2014 with a new group of grade 8 students leading the charge, as well as a core group of Grade 7 and 8 students from the entire school.
